Trinity Health is a community-based health system with a strong mission, supportive physician leadership, and a wide variety of practice opportunities across multiple specialties, including a growing need for Optometrists. As you work with residents and students on career planning, I wanted to introduce our organization and ensure you have our information available for those who may be interested in opportunities that offer strong clinical autonomy with support, excellent work–life balance, and the ability to make a meaningful impact in a community setting.
One aspect of our practice environment that many optometrists find appealing is the ability to focus fully on patient care. As part of an integrated health system, providers are supported by established administrative and operational structures, so they are not responsible for the business or practice management side of running a clinic. This allows our optometrists to concentrate on clinical care and patient outcomes.
Our optometrists also work closely with on-site ophthalmologists, creating a collaborative environment that allows providers to practice beyond routine vision care. In addition to refractions and general eye exams, our optometrists are involved in the evaluation and management of a wide range of medical eye conditions. Having ophthalmology available on site allows for easy consultation and coordination of care when needed, creating a team-based approach to patient care. This environment allows optometrists to apply the broader clinical training they received in optometry school while still having the support of surgical specialists when appropriate.
